Hide and Keep your Email ID Secure on Orkut

Leaving your email ID unprotected on Orkut might lead to so many unpleasant things like Orkut profile hacking, unsolicited friend requests, junk mails etc. Though it was possible to know any Orkut user’s email address earlier, Orkut has tightened it’s security system and no one can know anyone’s email ID if the user has not set his/her settings otherwise. You can also keep your email ID secure on orkut by not allowing anyone to view your email address from the privacy settings page.

Hide Email Address from Everyone on Orkut

1. Login to your Orkut account.

2. Navigate to Settings and click on Privacy tab

3. Look for an option called “allow people to find me through my email address“, select the second sub-option and check “Don’t allow people to find me“.

4. Just below the above option, you can find another privacy option that says, “friend requests are allowed to be sent by“, select the second sub-option “anyone who fits one of the following selected options” and tick the first settings option, “people who know my email address (required default)“. Check or uncheck the below two options according to your wish

5. Click on Save to save the changes you have made and you are Done.

Now no one can search your profile by email address. Even if they search using your actual email address, Orkut won’t show them your profile in their search results. And in step-4 we have made it sure that no one can add you as friend without knowing your email address. It’s possible to know email address from pending friend requests, but since we have restricted to friend requests by email only, no one can misuse that feature to get your email address.

7.Sorry, Your Account has been Disabled! [Orkut Login Problem]

If you are getting error messages like, “Sorry, your account has been disabled” while trying to log in to your Orkut account, this means that Google has disabled your Orkut account and you won’t be able to login to your profile until and unless they restore it. Getting disabled accounts restored, is not an easy task and statistics say that more than 95% of users don’t get their disabled accounts back. Nope, I am not discouraging you, but this is the fact. I will of course guide you with some possible ways to get your account restored, but let me tell you, chances are narrow.

Let’s find out the reasons for this first. You might have got your account disabled for the following reasons :

1. If you have dishonored Orkut TOS in any manner
2. If you have uploaded nude photos to your Orkut albums
3. If you have threatened any Orkut member
4. If you have been spamming all around
5. If you are using someone’s fake account
6. If your profile is carrying negative vibrations towards a religion or community
7. If your profile has been reported abuse by other Orkut users
8. If you have used javascript codes to like “Scrap to all friends” frequently
9. Altering your Karma settings using any third party sites
10. Accessing your profile using sites like “powerscrap.net”, “powerscrap.com.br” etc.

Now if you have not violated any of Orkut TOS, you can expect your account to get restored within 5-6 hours. Few times Orkut Bots disable accounts suspecting any unusual activities and again restore them automatically with full functionality within next few hours. But what if you never get your account back?

You can contact Google with your problems here, here or here. Make sure that your request form sounds humble and accurate. In most cases it takes up to 2/3 days for account restoration, but remember to contact them as soon as your account gets disabled. Making delay will let them think that you were involved in some illegal activities and that’s why you did not appeal at the earliest. Act fast, after all it’s your account!

6.How To Add More Than 1000 Friends To Your Orkut Profile

Orkut confirms that one Orkut user’s profile can have a maximum of 1000 friends and hence, you cannot add more than 1000 friends to your Orkut profile. But in reality you can’t add more than 970 or 980 friends. The reason behind this is that we might be having some pending friendship requests in our profile. These pending requests are calculated towards our total friends count. But this is final, Orkut won’t allow you to have more than 1000 friends. Let’s do something to bypass Orkut restriction and add more than 1000 friends to our profile.

How To Add More Than 1000 Friends To Your orkut profile :

1. Go to www.orkut.com/Invite.aspx
2. Enter email addresses of those persons whom you want to add as friends. (They should be active on Orkut)
3. Fill up the word verification and Submit.
4. Now Orkut will show you their Orkut profiles in a list manner. (This is because you tried sending invites to active Orkut users. Orkut won’t send invites to those emails associated with active Orkut profiles, it will rather prompt you with their Orkut profiles list)
5. Check the boxes next to their Orkut profiles and click OK.
6. Now they will receive your friendship request and once they accept your requests, they will get added to your list.
7. You are done.

In this way you can add more than 1000 friends to your Orkut profile. Now, don’t stay in limit, go ahead, make more friends and play with Orkut.

5.Approve Pending Friend Requests Automatically on Orkut!

If you are having a lots of pending friends request and don’t have enough time to accept them manually, you would like to use Auto Accept friend requests script. This script makes your job faster by accepting all your pending friends request in a single go. You don’t have to use your mouse and click on ‘Accept‘. This GreaseMonkey script takes care of all.

This script is like a new “Accept All” button on Orkut. It’s fast, handy and working fine. But remember that using this script will accept and add each and every pending requests, it does not bother if you like to accept a request or decline.

And also, this is not the script to add anyone on Orkut to your list. If and only if they are interested to be your friend, this script just makes it easier by accepting their requests automatically.

4.Orkut is getting secure, in other words ’stricter’ day by day.To control spam activities,it has limited the number of scraps, messages, testimonials

Many of us don’t like adding unknown people to our friends list on Orkut. However there are people who keep sending friend requests to every other person just to increase their friends count. Personally speaking, each day I get 20+ requests on Orkut, but my friends list is limited to 112 only at this moment. I really don’t like adding unknown people to my list and that’s why I manually decline their pending requests everyday. However, you can use a filter to automatically block friend requests from unknown people.

Orkut has a privacy settings from where you can filter incoming friend requests. You can choose to get friend requests from unknown people or from people from your country only or from the people who are in your friend’s list. To set these filters, navigate to Settings >> Privacy >> Friend requests are allowed to sent by

Here you will notice few options. For an easy explanation I’ve marked the options as 1, 2 and 3.

1. Select the second option that says “Anyone who fits one of the following options” to start filtering
2. First sub-option gets activated automatically once you select the above option. This will ask people to enter your email address in order to send friend requests. Persons who don’t know your email address won’t be able to send requests to you. (Tip : How to find anyone’s email address)
3. Second sub-option will make the privacy settings more stronger by allowing friend requests from those persons who are in at least one of your friend’s list
4. Orkut is available worldwide and hence if you want to receive requests from people of selected countries only, tick the third sub-option

Click on Save to save the changes you have made. Now no one who does not meet above requirements won’t be able to send friend requests to you. This is the best way to avoid unwanted friend requests on Orkut.

3. Posting to this user has been temporarily disabled” [Orkut Scrap problem]

Orkut is getting secure, in other words ’stricter’ day by day. To control spam activities, it has limited the number of scraps, messages, testimonials, community topics or polls that a user can perform in a certain span of time. Now, if you exceed their limit, few of your account features will get limited and you won’t be able to access those features. If you start sending scraps to a person more than the limit, scrapping feature in your account will get limited and you will get a notice like “Posting to this user has been temporarily disabled”. Let’s find it’s solution.

Another examples of excess use limitations are Adding friends service is temporarily disabled, Adding of comments temporarily disabled etc.

If you are busy in conversation with a friend and sending her scraps quickly (may be as a part of conversation, not necessarily spamming), after certain no of scraps, Orkut will ask you to fill up Captcha (word verification process) before sending further scraps. Remember, it does not matter if your scrap is having a live link or not, since you have crossed the limit, you have to fill up the Captcha forms. Now if you still continue sending scraps, Orkut will disable scrap feature on your account and will display a restriction notice like Posting to this user has been temporarily disabled.

Though this problem is not permanent, it’s annoying. Generally it stays active for 7-8 hours and then you can start sending scraps to that person as usual. The best way to get rid of this problem is to log out of Orkut, wait for 8 hours, clear browser cookies and then sign in to Orkut. Doing this will might get your account limitations withdrawn faster.

Personally, I don’t feel it’s the appropriate step taken by Orkut to prevent spamming. They have a tolerance limit of 50 scraps per hour (yes, your scrapping feature will get disabled if you try to send more than 50 scraps in one hour), but what if you are having more than 100 friends and want to inform them all about certain matter?

They should make it 250/hour at least, after all this place is for social networking and keeping a capping feature is like encouraging someone to do murder and then arresting him for doing such crime. Crazy Orkut, really!

2. Solution to “Adding of Comments Temporarily Disabled” on Orkut

f your Orkut profile is involved in any suspicious activities, an automated script will block some key features on your profile. Your Orkut profile will get limited and you won’t be able to do some commonly used things. Orkut implemented this feature to keep some users away from abusing Orkut features. But in few cases, we face this problem even without doing something fishy and wonder how to enable full access to our profiles. One of those limitations is that Orkut does not allow you to post comments on your friend’s photos and shows a notice like this : “Adding of comments temporarily disabled“. Let’s know why orkut shows this notification and how to fix this.

Fist let’s know why Orkut shows this comment addition restriction.

1. If you have used Scrap To All script to send scraps to your friends [Send scrap to all friends at once]
2. If you have used scrapbook flooder to flood someone’s scrapbook
3. If you have deleted scraps from your scrapbook using a script [Delete your Scraps automatically]
4. If you have deleted all your Orkut messages using a script
5. If you have accepted or deleted all pending friends requests using a script

From above points you can see that Orkut puts a restriction on your account if you use javascripts to do something. Though this restriction is not permanent, it might stop you from doing something really urgent.

This restriction freezes your account temporarily and make it limited for 8-10 hours generally. If you don’t get it normal after the specified time, try changing your account password. Try sending scraps or messages to your friends or add a friend to your list. I mean to say, try doing something normal and hope to get everything fine shortly.

If you still continue receiving such problems, there might be a chance that your account is being used by someone else. Keep your Orkut profile safe by changing your password in regular intervals, at least twice a month

1. solution for addition of friends is temporarily disabled on orkut

If you perform some unusual activities, Orkut will make your profile access limited and as a result you can’t add new friends to your friends list. Whenever you try to add someone as a friend, you will get an error message as , “Adding Friends Service is temporarily Disabled“. This limitation is applied to your account temporarily for a period of one or two days. But few times this friend add service stays disabled for a longer period like “adding of comments temporarily disabled on your profile“. Here I’m going to share the trick to add people as your friends even if friend addition limitation is applied to your profile.

• 1. Go to Orkut friends invite page.
• 2. Write email address of your friends whom you want to add as friend.
• 3. Write any customized text to your new friends, it’s just an extra option.
• 4. Fill up the word verification.
• 5. Hit submit to send the requests and you are done.

Now those persons will receive your friend request and upon accepting, they will get added to your friends list. Check out the below screenshot.

You need to have those person’s email address, else you won’t be able to send them requests (How to know anyone’s email ID on Orkut).

There is one another trick to bypass this limitation. Due to disable of friends adding service on your profile, you can’t add new people to your list, but they can always add you. Simply ask those persons to send you a friend request from their end. Once you receive a friend request from their end, accept that request and they will get added to your list. Simple!

If you want to permanently resolve this “Adding Friends Service is temporarily Disabled” issue, try changing your account password. Send few messages, scrap in your friends scrapbooks, I mean, get engaged in some normal Orkut activities and hope everything to come normal shortly.
